Overview:

This short-term training course introduces the fundamentals and applications of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and data-driven decision-making in the context of oceanographic and environmental data. It is tailored for researchers, technical officers, and professionals engaged in data analysis and operational forecasting. The course combines theoretical lectures with practical sessions using AI/ML tools and real-world datasets.

Aims and objectives:

  • Introduce core AI concepts and their relevance to digital transformation.
  • Equip participants with skills in machine learning, data analytics, and predictive modelling.
  • Demonstrate applications of AI in ocean science and environmental monitoring.
  • Enhance capabilities in data-driven decision-making using modern tools.

    • Learning Outcomes:

    • Understand the applications of different AI for Governance .
    • Identify work-problems where use of AI can provide a solution.
    • Appreciate the limitation of AI and where it may not be prudent to use these technologies.
    • Understanding of Computer Vision, Natural Language Processing and Generative AI.
    • Appreciate bias and ethical issues.
    • Understand a typical workflow in executing an AI project.
